Tasmania is known the world over for its cool climate cheeses and wines and seafood; and fine food and wine is never better than when sourced locally and prepared with a passion for the ingredients. At Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge you have a choice of food and wine experiences to suit any occasion.

For a special event, the Highland Restaurant is a fine dining option. After a day exploring the area, you might feel like something more casual, so head for the Tavern Bar & Bistro. For pre-dinner drinks or a nightcap in front of a roaring fire in winter, sink into a comfy lounge in the Guest Bar & Lounge.

Events of all sizes are often hosted at Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge, but something small and special like a Signature Wine & Cheese Tasting showcasing Tasmania’s gourmet reputation, can also be arranged.

Highland Restaurant

The Highland Restaurant is open daily for Lodge buffet breakfast and dinner. Bookings are required for dinner. The menu is inspired by the best of Tasmanian produce and changes seasonally. The Highland Restaurant also hosts regular degustation dinners and winemaker events.

Tavern Bar & Bistro

The rustic Tavern Bar & Bistro is a warm and casual setting for bistro meals, with the large central wood fire providing an intimate ambience. The Tavern is open daily for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. It is perfect for casual drinks or a hearty meal before a long hike.

Guest Bar & Lounge

After a day exploring the wilderness, find a comfy place to compare notes or cosy up in front of the fire. The Weindorfer Lounge is perfect, with a grand open fire and deep leather chairs. Just as inviting is the Guest Lounge Bar, ideal for an after-dinner nightcap.

Chef profile - Josh Hamilton

Josh Hamilton is the Executive Chef of Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge Highland Restaurant and Tavern Bar & Bistro. Josh has extensive experience in hospitality, previously as Sous Chef at Sails in the Desert, then Sous Chef at Freycinet Lodge. Most recently Josh was the Executive Chef of Rydges Gladstone.

At Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge, Josh draws on his passion for great food and wine to inspire a handpicked team in the kitchen and restaurant who are keen to share their knowledge and professionalism. Executive Chef Hamilton’s enthusiasm for sourcing the freshest local seasonal ingredients can be seen and sampled in his diverse menus that showcase Tasmanian produce and pay tribute to the local providores.
