The Argus Dining Room, Bar & Lounge sources from the Argus Kitchen Garden, with fruit, vegetables and rare breed beef and lamb from the Hotel’s own farm. Even breakfast is an experience in the sun-drenched Conservatory.

The Conservatory

Enjoy a gourmet breakfast in the charming Conservatory each morning from 8am to 10:30am. The Conservatory opens out to all day sun, and is elegantly furnished with soft cushioned banquettes, comfortable cane chairs and hanging pendulum lamps.

The Argus Bar & Lounge

The Argus Bar and Lounge is a stylish space that is perfect for pre-dinner drinks and snacks. Sink into deep club chairs and sofas and enjoy a selection from the extensive wine list. Indulge in a sublime cocktail mixed by experienced bar staff. The Argus Bar & Lounge also offers a bar menu perfect for casual dining under the iconic arches, or in the light-filled conservatory. Open for lunch from 12pm - 3pm daily and dinner from 6pm till late (Mon & Tue) for the Argus Bar & Lounge.

Enjoy a fresh, seasonal menu that features produce grown in the onsite Argus Kitchen Garden as well as rare breed beef and lamb from the owners’ nearby farm 'Vale Hill' in Smeaton.

Chef profile - A Fresh New Phase

In a stage of evolution and development, the Argus family welcomes new Food and Beverage Manager Clare Hastings and the elevation of one of The Argus Sous Chefs to the Executive Chef role. Co-owner Chris Malden says The Argus will continue to offer authentic paddock to plate dining with a high proportion of its produce, beef and lamb to be sourced from his farm Vale Hill in Smeaton. “We will continue to focus on fantastic food and great service but we will be making it more accessible and desirable for both locals and visitors alike.” “Various cuts of Vale Hill beef and lamb will feature strongly on the new menu along with seasonal fruits and vegetables from our farm” he says. With our new kitchen only recently opened the team is ready to move forward into the next exciting phase for The Argus.” The Argus Bar & Dining Room is now open for dinner 7 days, while made-to-order breakfast and lunch is served in the Conservatory and under the enclosed arches at the front of the iconic Peppers Mineral Springs Hotel.
