Total Solar Eclipse - 14 November 2012
An unforgettable experience
At dawn on Wednesday 14th November a spectacular total solar eclipse will be visible exclusively from Port Douglas & Palm Cove and the surrounding Great Barrier Reef region. A rare occurrence, a total eclipse occurs when the dark silhouette of the moon completely obscures the intensely bright light of the sun, allowing the much fainter solar corona to be visible. The next total solar eclipse will not occur until March 2015, with the best viewing locations being northern Africa, northern Asia and selected parts of Europe.
An event that will not occur in this same location for another 360 years, this year’s total solar eclipse presents the rare opportunity to view the event from land. Peppers Beach Club and Peppers Beach Club & Spa provide a tropical paradise that is perfectly positioned to make the most of this once-in-a lifetime experience. Relax by the beach in full view of this natural phenomenon before retreating to the luxury of the resort.
