 | FishingThe rivers in the Victorian Alps are extremely plentiful and an absolute paradise for both budding and experienced fishers. The Mitta Mitta, Dargo, Cobungra and Ovens rivers are great for catching trout. |
 | Mountain BikingMountain biking around Mount Hotham is one of the best ways to see it. There are many good tracks extending out from Hotham and from Dinner Plain - four wheel drive tracks and fire trails winding through the bush. |
 | Road CyclingTake your next cycling session to one of the most scenic and highest bitumen roads in Australia. A simple ride between Dinner Plain and Hotham is a cruisy 10km and a great way to escape the everyday in amongst the snowgums. Or take on one of the more challenging rides (detailed below) from the base of Hotham approaching from Harrietville or Omeo. |
 | Walks & TrailsThere are a variety of walks around Dinner Plain and Mount Hotham. There are more than 15 walking trails around DP including the 2km return trip to Carmichael Falls and 3km return tip to Room with A View. For something a little more challenging there is a 9km return trip to Precipice Plain where you will be rewarded with commanding views of the Dargo River and Dargo High Plains. For the adventurers, head to Mount Hotham and take in the spectacular views along the Razorback as you head to the peak of Mount Feathertop and enjoy 360 degree views of the Alpine High County. The 22km walk leaves from Diamantina Hut, you will need to make an early start, take plenty of water. The bush walking season lasts from early November to until early May. |

For beginners you can play on the Cobungra Platter at Dinner Plain or the Summit at Hotham, the children can head to The Big D and intermediates and advanced skiers and boards can explore the endless terrain at Hotham. More InformationIn Dinner Plain (only 150 metres from Rundells) there is a gentle beginner ski run, Cogungra platter which includes a free magic carpet, poma lift and cafe. Lift tickets for the Poma, equipment hire and private lessons are available from Pinnacle DP.

Dinner Plain is located only 10km from Australia's Premier Ski Resort Mount Hotham. A free shuttle bus operates between the two resorts.  | Cross Country / Nordic SkiingDinner Plain and Hotham both offer a huge range of cross country terrain surrounded by spectacular Alpine National Park. Between the resorts there are over 35km of trails, with curcuits ranging from 2km to 15km. Trails start from Dinner Plain, Wire Plain and Hotham. No trail fees apply for cross country skiing a the resort. Cross Country skis and other equipment can also be hired from Hoys DP. More Information Hotham Snowsports Centre also has a range of ski instructors that specialise in cross-country ski instruction. Both group and private lessons are available. Cross-country skiing makes up an active and integral part of the identity of Hotham and Dinner Plain. To this end there are some key cross country events that take place each year. The infamous Pub to Pub sees around 100 competitors ski the 11 kilometes from the General Store at Hotham down to the Dinner Plain Hotel. The Hotham Winter Triathlon is another great event, featuring a run, cycle and cross country ski. Cameron is a Hotham local who competed in the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics in the sport of biathon, which is cross country skiing and rifle shooting. He trains up here each winter, as Biathlon Australia's main shooting field is located just a few kilometres outside Hotham Village on the way to Dinner Plain.

Hoys Ski Hire are the only rental outlet for this equipment at Dinner Plain & Mt Hotham. Rundells guests can receive 15% off adult X-Country skis/boots/poles sets.
