FURTHER EXPANSION FOR PEPPERS LUXURY RETREATS PORTFOLIO IN NEW ZEALAND
Award winning Awaroa Eco Lodge joins boutique luxury brand
8 May 2012: Luxury accommodation provider Peppers Retreats and Resorts has added the multi-award winning Awaroa Lodge in Abel Tasman National Park to its expanding New Zealand portfolio.
To be known as Peppers Awaroa Lodge when it re-opens on 26 September after closing over the winter months, the new addition is one of six stunning Peppers resorts and retreats located across New Zealand. Hot on the heels of the recent expansion into Martinborough with the addition of Peppers Parehua Retreat in February, it also correlates with the expansion of the Peppers brand across the Tasman with the award winning Cradle Mountain Lodge also joining the network in March.
Regional General Manager of Peppers New Zealand, Ken Harris, says the expansion demonstrates Peppers’ commitment to providing astute travellers with premium boutique accommodation in unique locations.
“Awaroa Lodge is a superb acquisition for the Peppers network and a testament to our commitment to growth in New Zealand,” says Ken.
Mantra Group CEO, Bob East, reiterated the company’s focus on expansion in the region: “We look forward to the continued growth of the Peppers brand in New Zealand with further additions set to join the network over the coming months.”
The four star wilderness lodge is the sole provider of luxury accommodation in the National Park which is renowned for its golden beaches, sculptured granite cliffs and world-famous Abel Tasman Coast Track.
Part of the lodge’s charm is its remote location and tranquil surrounds. With no road access available to the property, guests can either walk the famous Abel Tasman track from either Marahau or Totaranui; Kayak the Abel Tasman coastline from Totaranui; take a water taxi from Kaiteriteri or Marahau; or for a truly memorable experience, charter a helicopter or light aircraft from Nelson, Motueka or Wellington.
Just two hours from Nelson’s town centre and set within an incredible wilderness setting, Peppers Awaroa Lodge’s 26 contemporary villas strike a perfect balance of natural comfort and contemporary style, with views of picturesque wetlands and native bush. The lodge includes 12 Superior Suites which have been designed with a focus on the environment by Wellington architect Ian Athfield. The facilities are also ideal for weddings and conferences.
As an Eco Lodge, Peppers Awaroa Lodge is committed to the ethos of ecological and bio-organic sustainability and is a contributor to the Nelson-Tasman Sustainable Tourism Charter – a regionally defined vision of what sustainable tourism means for local tourism businesses.
With a four star status Peppers Awaroa Lodge is an acclaimed business within the New Zealand tourism landscape, having won multiple awards including the Top Three Hotels title in 2006 and the Innovation in Eco Tourism Award in 2005.
The Peppers brand started with the opening of the first Peppers property 25 years ago in Australia – the famous Peppers Guest House in the NSW Hunter Valley – and now includes over 27 properties across Australia and New Zealand. Peppers Awaroa Lodge is the sixth property to join the Peppers Group in New Zealand including Peppers on the Point Rotorua, Peppers Parehua Retreat in Martinborough Peppers Clearwater Resort, Christchurch, Peppers Bluewater Resort Lake Tekapo and Peppers Beacon Queenstown.
