Katers Restaurant adds another hat to the rack
8 September 2009
Kater's restaurant has further enhanced its reputation as one of New South Wales’ most outstanding dining experiences winning a Chef’s Hat for the second consecutive year at the Sydney Morning Herald’s 2010 Good Food Guide Awards.
The signature restaurant of elegant Southern Highlands retreat Peppers Manor House took the honour amidst illustrious company at last night’s gala 25-anniversary event recognising the best of the best from the State’s food scene.
Operations manager for Peppers Manor House, Robyne Toohey, put the result down to an amazing team effort.
“This prestigious award validates the efforts of our executive chef Francois Razavet and his team in both the kitchen and the restaurant and they are to be congratulated for this great achievement,’’ she said.
“It is very rewarding and a great honour for Katers to receive this acknowledgment for consistently delivering the highest quality service and food.’’
Katers offers fine dining with modern Australian cuisine showcasing the freshest produce from the NSW Southern Highlands region.
The restaurant has recently undergone a stunning makeover creating two distinctive dining environments – one featuring an elegant charcoal and chocolate colour theme and the other offering a conservatorium feel with garden and bushland views.
And with a sumptuous new spring menu in place highlighted by tender beef cheeks, fresh john dory, corn fed chicken, pumpkin risotto and succulent pork belly with apple tatin, now is the ideal time to delight in the unobtrusive, friendly atmosphere and fine food and wine of Katers.
Peppers Manor House is set on a beautiful Southern Highlands estate and provides an experience of life and leisure at a grand country house. The forty-one uniquely styled rooms and suites are elegantly furnished and offer views of the estate and golf course.
Built in 1878, the house was originally home to the Katers, a pioneering grazing family, and has retained its original country charm. During winter, an open fire burns continually in the Great Hall while in summer, meals are served in a leafy courtyard with drinks by the pool.
